“Ghost Stories” is an anthology of 4 short stories directed by Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Dibakar Banerjee, and Karan Johar. This is the 3rd time that the four of them are working together on an anthology film. They have earlier collaborated on Bombay Talkies, the 2013 film, and Lust Stories, the 2018 Netflix film.
Sobhita Dhulipala, the breakout star of Amazon Original Made in Heaven, will have a role in Ghost Stories, the upcoming anthology by Netflix. This compilation will see 4 of coveted film directors in India direct separate stories in the supernatural or horror genre. The tales, helmed by Zoya Akhtar, Karan Johar, Anurag Kashyap, and Dibakar Banerjee, will be thematically linked to one another and end in a hair-raising conclusion.
While very less is recognized about Dhulipala’s role in the film, it is disclosed that she will be having a role in Kashyap’s film.
The project was declared previously in August 2019. Kashyap, who has worked together on multiple occasions with Netflix, claimed to the media, “I am actually looking forward to confronting myself to make something that I have never tried earlier. Also, I have never set up so much for anything earlier.”
Ghost Stories will be the 3rd part in the anthology show, started in 2013 with Bombay Talkies, and carried on with Lust Stories (2018). Bombay Talkies launched on May 3, 2013, celebrating and overlapping with the 100th year of cinema in India and the start of a new epoch in today’s cinema. On the other hand, Lust Stories was praised by audiences and critics alike for its female sexuality exploration, a topic that has hardly been explored by mainstream flicks in Bollywood.
Previously, it was also verified that Vijay Varma, who turned out to be an overnight star with the launch of Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy, will collaborate with the director one more time for the anthology film Ghost Stories. Varma will have a major role in the short film, starring opposite Janhvi Kapoor.
Ghost Stories is the 3rd collaboration between RSVP and Netflix. Produced by RSVP and Ronnie Screwvala, in alliance with Flying Unicorn Entertainment’s Ashi Dua, Ghost Stories will launch only on the streaming service.
In the meantime, Shobita will also star in Bard of Blood, the Netflix Indian original web series. She will star opposite Vineet Kumar Singh, Emraan Hashmi, Kirti Kulhari, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Rajit Kapoor in the web show. Created by Shah Rukh Khan below his banner (Red Chillies Entertainment), Bard of Blood is a high-octane 7-episode thriller web show is based on a 2015 novel of the same name by writer Bilal Siddiqi.
